LECTURE: Looking for Biomarkers for Epileptogenesis and Functional Outcome after Brain Injury.

Traumatic brain Injury (TBI) is defined as an alteration in brain function, or other evidence of brain pathology, caused by an external force. Clinically the post-TBI clinical phenotype can include post-traumatic epilepsy.

Asla Pitkanen presentation will discuss the hypothesis that early identification of injury severity with quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) provides biomarkers for predicting increased seizure susceptibility and epileptogenesis after traumatic brain injury TBI.
